In my kitchen…
… the best thing in my kitchen right now (a quiet Saturday night at home before the Christmas craziness) is Mr13 washing up. No photo, you’ll have to take my word for it. It doesn’t happen a lot!
In my kitchen…
… is this fabulous magnetic poetry kit for the food lover. Lots of my favourite words – egg, pork, bacon, wine. You get the drift. Given to me as a thank you pressie a couple of months ago by some beautiful friends who came to Killcare to keep me company one weekend. In my kitchen…
… the first of my Foodie Secret Santa gifts. Fellow Brisbane food blogger Claire, from Claire K Creations instigated the first Foodie Secret Santa this year. I need to get organised and work out what to make to send to my recipients!
In my kitchen …
… sensational cheeses from Yarra Valley Dairy. These were gifted to me at the Brisbane Good Food and Wine Show, although I would have been very happy to pay, as I have been a long time fan of Yarra Valley Dairy. If you haven’t tried their cheese, please do. The black savourine is a new favourite.
In my kitchen …
… a selection of Herbie’s Spices from their Christmas collection. These were sent to me too (THANK YOU!). I’ve also been a long time fan of Herbie’s – the man and the company. The man (Ian Hemphill) is ridiculously generous with sharing his knowledge and love of herbs and spices, and the company is a highly successful Sydney-based small business that I am more than happy to support . One of the things I love most is that they don’t use any nasty fillers in their spice mixes – no salt as the main ingredient, no evil-to-my-body MSG, no starches.
In my kitchen…
… the LONG AWAITED in the mix 2. Food writer and fellow Thermomix addict Dani Valent’s second book to honor the Thermomix. Dani kindly sent me a copy. I haven’t made anything yet, but I have earmarked about 20 recipes to play with over the holiday – I can’t wait!!
In my kitchen …
… a beautiful bowl of tomatoes picked out of my garden. There are at least four different varieties – just don’t ask me what they are all called! The flavour in these is just amazing – so real you can just taste the goodness.

Sometimes I read this IMK posts and smile so much that my face starts to ache. 🙂 Love the idea of Mr 13 washing up, Herbie’s spices (and Ian) are absolutely fantastic! Have fun with the poetry magnets – I have a set, but they’re not food based. Now I wish they were! 🙂

We used to have a naughty set of poetry magnets too – apparently hubby threw them out 🙁

Good to see the possums didn’t get all of the buds. Those tomatoes look divine Mel. Mine gave me about a dozen small cherry toms then curled up it’s toes. Trying again with some yellow teardops. I know you’ve been wating for that Thermo book so I’m sure you’ll be entertained.
Mel Kettle says
Thanks Fiona, they taste amazing. I’ve netted our whole veggie patch so they have managed to eat a few, but not too many

I’m kicking myself I missed out in a foodie based secret santa. What a cool idea.

Mel, your magnets (fun!), Dukka, and goat cheese are fabulous. (Herbie’s Spices, too… swoon.) Haven’t yet had the pleasure of trying a Thermomix, but the new cookbook is sure to keep you entertained throughout the holidays! What I wouldn’t give for a fresh tomato right about now… 🙂 Merry Christmas!
Mel Kettle says
Merry Christmas to you too Kim 🙂

Woohoo, Mel! You’re the 300th “like” on my FB page (at long last, lol.) A gift awaits… thank you and Happy Holidays!

Mel, the first go-round I ended up sending it to myself… but, I consider that an early Christmas gift. 🙂 Nami’s recipes and photos are exceptional. Give me a couple of days (or cups of coffee tomorrow morning, ha!) to figure out “how-to.” It’ll be worth the wait, I promise. Thanks again for your support — much appreciated!

Those tomatoes look marvelous. I would love a fresh tomato right now!

they are pretty amazing 🙂

Oh wow, look at your home grown tomatoes! Nice one, Mel. We are still having quite low overnight temps, so I need to buy good tomatoes from the farmer’s market, as you see from my IMK post. Your pickles look good!

Wonderful array, seasonally perfect:) Was thrilled to spot a bottle of dukkah spice mix, one of my new muses…

Hurrah for Mr13 washing up!
I love Herbies spices, too. Such a great addition to the Christmas Hampers that I give people.
